Never before today have I seen a moon set! This morning, up shortly before the alarm clock was set to go off, I noticed how light it was out the back windows. I saw this giant moon, low in the sky, just peeping over my neighbor's roof. I scurried to snap a photo and captured the moon, ready to dip below the horizon.

Moon Set, 11/6/14. It was rather beautiful with the black leaves from the backyard trees waving in the breeze in front of the setting moon.

The early morning was very cloudy. I had hoped to be able to see a colorful sunrise. The sun was covered by clouds and I took this photo on my way to church, an hour after sunrise, while stopped in traffic.

It's hard to find the sun between the clouds but it's there! 11/6/14.

I had to share these photos with you! There are always pleasant surprises in store for you, if you spot them! After Mass and Bible Study, I had a pleasant country drive from Lexington, Kentucky, south 40 miles to the small town of Danville, where I spent many (25!) years raising my children. This particular group of friends has been having lunch several times a year for - we forgot - 30 years? 40 years? Many times, we have a visitor with us; today it was Sue.

It's so fun to connect with old friends! We always have a lot of catching up to do with our lives; grandchildren - 30 to 40 between us, new babies expected - 2, impending weddings - 2, travels, both in the U.S.A. and abroad, what's going on in our churches, the election. Today we talked about "downsizing" our homes when we thought it was necessary.
Another century ago, when I was a young, active mother, my mother told me that she and dad were far busier after dad retired than when he was still working. Honestly, I didn't believe her but now I do! And I heard on TV last night a comment about "get retired people.
They don't have anything to do!" Not true! I'm so much busier now! The difference is that I don't have to serve a boss and a job. I get to pace myself (sometimes I forget!). Mother was right!
On an old, embroidered sampler: "Friends: One is silver, one is gold, Keep the silver, keep the gold."
Lord, we praise You and thank You for our friends, the new friends, the long-term friends! Never let us fail to value them and spend time with them!
